They bonded over afternoon tea in London during the 20th annual Guinness World Records Day, chatting about their hobbies and exchanging self-care tips.

“Meeting Jyoti for the first time was wonderful,” Rumeysa said. “She’s the most gorgeous lady. I was waiting to meet her for a long time.”

“I’m used to looking up and seeing people taller than me, but I was so happy to look up today and see the world’s tallest woman,” Jyoti expressed.

She added that while making eye contact was difficult due to their height difference, their encounter was still a “great” one.

Guinness World Records Editor-in-Chief Craig Glenday gave them special certificates to celebrate their status as “Guinness World Records ICONS.”

Rumeysa was recognized as the tallest female teenager living when she was 17 years old, then named as the tallest woman living in 2021 with a height of 215.16 cm (7 ft. 0.7 in). She has Weaver syndrome, a rare genetic condition that causes bone overgrowth.

The 27-year-old also holds records for the largest hands on a woman at 24.93 cm (9.81 in), the longest back on a living person (female) at 59.90 cm (23.58 in), and the longest ears on a person (female).

Meanwhile, Jyoti became the shortest teenager in 2009 at the age of 15. She was remeasured in 2011 and officially announced as the shortest woman living, measuring 62.8 cm (2 ft. 3/4 in).

Her height is caused by achondroplasia, a bone growth disorder that affects the arms and legs. The 30-year-old is part of the cast of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story: Freak Show. She portrayed the role of Ma Petite, making her the shortest actress ever.

Guinness World Records noted that bringing them together provided an opportunity for them to share their perspectives with each other and the world.
