Diving Deep with World-Class Athletes
Attendees learned firsthand how half-Filipino, half-Australian gymnast-turned-diver and 2023 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Third Place Winner Xantheia Pennisi, and 2008 Beijing Olympics 3-meter spring synchro bronze medalist and 2024 Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series Menโs Champion Oleksiy Prygorov prepare to execute their awe-inspiring dives with precision and confidence.
โWe spend many hours in the gym, in the pool, practicing for our dives,โ said Prygorov about how they prepare for dives.
Pennisi emphasized the importance of both physical and mental preparation, sharing her mental struggles from last season. โLast year, I had a very difficult season. I was learning some of my harder dives when I had a struggle mentally with a certain dive, so that pulled me back a little bit.โ Instead of impeding her growth as a diver, the half-Filipino, half-Australian diver shared that she used this time to โlearn new dives and have fun with diving again.โ
โThereโs only about 40 people in the world who actually do this sport,โ shared Pennisi. โItโs definitely growing, but because thereโs only a limited number of athletes, weโre always supporting each other and helping each other even though weโre competitors. Iโm so lucky to be part of a sport where everyone wants each other to get better,โ she added.

One of the highlights of the event was the live demonstration from the Red Bull Cliff Divers and the Philippine Diving Team, which electrified the audience. This gave guests a preview of the thrilling action expected at the kick-off of the Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series this April.
Prygorov also shared his excitement for the upcoming Red Bull Cliff Diving World Series, stating, โEvery year, new, young people bring in new energy.โ He added, โWe love to keep going and keep having friendly, healthy competition against each other. Itโs also good to see new places (for every competition).โ
Both Pennisi and Prygorov expressed their enthusiasm for having the series opening in the Philippines. โThe Philippines is a special place for the sport,โ said the Ukrainian diver. โHaving a warm location helps,โ said Pennisi, whose family will be watching her live for the competition. โBeing able to represent Australia and the Philippines is really special and always fuels me to perform better.โ
