When Filipinos think of French food, their minds go straight to bread… and more bread. My friends, I’m here to tell you that French cuisine has so much more to offer than baguettes and croissants. Introducing: Dr. Wine. What started as a small wine bar in Poblacion in 2017 evolved into a hangout spot for those looking for a good nightcap. A bit away from the usual party scene in Poblacion, Dr. Wine is located in a more quiet part of the area, perfect for those just looking to unwind and relax after a long day of hustling in the city.

At first, Dr. Wine served the usual finger food that goes with wine such as cheese and meat–the usual suspects in a charcuterie board. But recently, the beloved wine bar launched a brand new menu that now includes filling dishes that feel like they come straight from France. And most of them do! All of their wines and cheeses are imported from Europe, mostly France and Spain.

Dr. Wine might seem a little intimidating at first, but the minute you step in, you’ll be enveloped in a relaxed atmosphere that’ll make you want to stay there for hours. You can sit at their bar, at their shared cocktail tables to socialize, or at one of the private booths if you’re with company. Order a glass or two and indulge in a meal that’ll not only satisfy your taste buds but transport you to a bistro in Paris.

If you’re looking for some real, authentic French cuisine that won’t serve you bite-sized portions, Dr. Wine is the perfect place for you.

It’s been dubbed as a tita tambayan,ย  but I think it’s perfect for young professionals who aren’t really into the typical loud and beer-in-hand scene that the area offers. And, between you and me, Dr. Wine is the perfect date spot.

French food doesn’t necessarily have to mean ultra fine dining. I don’t know where this perception comes from, but it’s totally false. It’s just food. And in this case, very good food. Come to Dr. Wine for a new food experience, for the beautiful wine selections, and for the atmosphere. Feel free to stay a couple of hours. You don’t need to rush when you’re hanging out here.
