It’s only January, but the Japan Meteorological Corporation has already released its second 2025 Sakura forecast! This is great news for Filipinos, particularly those who haven’t yet applied for a visa due to the new two-month prior submission requirement. So what is the best time to visit Japan for cherry blossoms?
According to the forecast from January 23, 2025, the Sakura season is expected to begin around the same time as in previous years for most of Japan. In Tokyo, cherry blossoms are predicted to bloom on March 24 and reach full bloom by March 31.

In Kyoto, cherry blossoms are predicted to bloom on March 27 and reach full bloom by April 5. In Osaka, cherry blossoms are predicted to bloom on March 28 and reach full bloom by April 4.
Northbound, cherry blossoms in Aomori are predicted to bloom on April 20 and reach full bloom by April 23. Meanwhile, cherry blossoms in Sapporo are predicted to bloom on April 28 and reach full bloom by May 2.
As always, the weather can unpredictably impact the cherry blossom season. Last year serves as a reminder of this, as cooler temperatures pushed back the blooming period by several weeks.
