The Presidential Communications Officeย recently released a video of the activities that took place during the commemoration of the third-year anniversary of typhoon Yolandaย (Haiyan), which struck and wreaked havoc in the country on November 8, 2013.
President Rodrigo Duterte led the memorial held in Tacloban, Leyte where the super typhoon made landfall three years ago and caused thousands of deaths, as well as massive destruction.
Some of the highlights of the Yolanda Memorial on November 8, 2016 were a holy mass at the Tacloban Astrodome, the launch of the Yolanda documentary, the blessing and turn-over ceremony of the Astrodome Park and Playground (a recovery and rehabilitation project for the children survivors), a traditional candle-lighting along the streets of the city; and the Sky Lantern Memorial. National and local government officials and foreign dignitaries attended the event.
