Doctor Strange was an unusual Marvel movie. It wasn’t like the others that relied mostly on action sequences and explosions. While Doctor Strange has that, it has a more cerebral feel and a heavy focus on mysticism. And yes, it did really well in the box office and in critics’ circles.
Now, Cinefix’s 8 Bit Cinema reimagined the hit movie as an 8-bit game, and it looks really good.
Watch it below:
Doctor Strange follows celebrity surgeon Stephen Strange, who gets into an accident that ends his career. After a series of experiments fail, he tries a more mystical approach from the Ancient One in Nepal. While there, he unwittingly becomes part of a fight the Ancient One has with his former student Kaecilius, who wants everyone to have eternal life.
The character made his debut in 1963, inspired by the Chandu the Magician radio program in the 1930’s. Today, IGN ranked him 33rd in a list of the top 50 Avengers, while Wizard ranked him 83rd in their 200 greatest comic book characters of all-time list.
Benedict Cumberbatch starred as Doctor Strange, while Tilda Swinton starred as the Ancient One.
The movie did so well that Rotten Tomatoes said that it “artfully balances its outré source material against the blockbuster constraints of the MCU, delivering a thoroughly entertaining superhero origin story in the bargain.”
