On Wednesday, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles emphasized that using tricycles or motorcycles is against the safety measures of social distancing, which aims to contain the spread of the virus.
Nograles said this in a press briefing following the Inter-Agency Task Force meeting. He clarified the government’s concern regarding the use of tricycles or motorcyles during the enhanced community quarantine period.
“Concerned talaga ang gobyerno dito sa pag gamit ngtricycle dahil hindi namin lubos makita o maintindihan kung paano mag-social distancing sa tricycle,” Nograles said.
Meanwhile, Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto recently lifted the ban on using tricycles in the city during the first day of the Metro Manila community quarantine in order to provide transportation for health workers.
However, Nograles said that other local government units comply with the safety measures they have released.
“Let’s all stick to the common ground rules,” he said.
During this time of enhanced community quarantine, the following are being implemented:
- home quarantine in all households
- transportation is suspended
- provision for food and essential health services is regulated
- the presence of uniformed personnel to enforce quarantine procedures is heightened
