30 minutes later, this view welcomed us. The 230-feet high Tappiyah falls with ice-cold water that will wash your tiredness away.
This is also a great opportunity for photography enthusiasts to do long exposure shots of the falls. I only brought a compact mirrorless camera so it didn’t really work well for me. Still, I tried!
After enjoying a dip into the freezing water, you can have some hot instant coffee or noodles from the nearby stores to warm up your body. The products are priced twice or thrice as much though. But let’s just think of how much effort the vendors put into heating up water with some firewood.
The trail back is a bit easier as we no longer passed by the top view deck. It only took us an hour going back instead of an hour and a half. Batad is also nearby other amazing destinations in the Cordilleras such as the now famous Sagada in Mountain Province. On your way to Sagada, you will pass by the world renowned Banaue Rice Terraces.
Check out some of the photos I took in Sagada on our second day.

Shout out to Kuya Derik Gano, our professional, responsible, and humorous guide who made our Banaue trip unforgettable. I hope I see Kuya Derik again when I return for other trekking adventures in Banaue.
Every once in a while, you should definitely get out of the city and visit some of the amazing places we have in the Philippines. If you’re a fan of mountains and trekking, Batad Rice Terraces should definitely be on your list of places to visit. You can expect moderate difficulty on the trails, but beginners can still make it through. Just prepare for some sore leg muscles the next day. You can book your tours, transfers, and accommodations through Tourismo Filipino’s Banaue Tours.
