9. Underground River
I’m saving the best ones for last. By far this is should be one of the highlights of your trip. Make sure you contact your travel agency beforehand to get you a slot for the Underground River tour. A great travel agency to get in touch with is e-Philippines Adventure Travel and Destinations.
You can also coordinate with the Puerto Princesa Underground River Office whose customer service I am very happy of. They were able to answer my email, questions and guide me accordingly to have this tour. Email them before you go to Palawan : info@puerto-undergroundriver.com to get everything in place.
You should allot a day to go to one of the seven wonders of the world because it takes 2 hours to go there from the city and you have to allocate time for meals either before or after the tour. Cost for the tour is around PhP 1,500 with lunch included.
Some travel agencies would pick you up at 7am at your hotel, we took a later schedule with a 9:30am pickup and arrived just in time for lunch at Sabang beach.
Did I say lunch was a buffet?
You take a 15-20 minute boat ride from Sabang beach and you’re welcomed by wonderful rock formations just near the beach of the Underground River
It was raining that time so all of us had to wear raincoats. We travelled in September so the monsoons were still in. Its still best to visit here around summertime March – April.
You would occasionally see Monkeys around – this one was too fast.

Once you get to the mouth of the caves, you get some time for photo ops. It’s best to wear shorts, slippers and comfortable tops for this ride. Get ready to get a little wet. Cameras are allowed inside the caves.
It’s amazing inside. No wonder its part of the seven wonders of the world.
The tour guides are very entertaining and could come up with different stories on every formation you see inside the underground river. This one looks like an upside down poop.
Given it rained a few hours before we went in, the view & water was still gorgeous.
10. Honda Bay
The Honda Bay Tour takes another day too. If you love the beach – you’ll love it here!
You can rent snorkeling gear / aqua shoes right before you set sail on your island hopping.
We were able to rent an underwater camera case for PhP 250 there too. And yes it was reliable and our camera didn’t get soaked.
First stop is Luli Island.
You get to experience “diving” into the sea here.
They also have a snorkeling spot.
Next island was Starfish Island where we had lunch. The waters are crystal clear and the beach had a perfect view from our huts where we lazily relaxed in.

I know its shameful, but everytime we ate my plate was this full.
