Back when I was a kid, there used to be so many good cartoons on TV, cartoons that kids and only kids enjoyed. Maybe I’m getting old but part of me feels that most of today’s cartoons, if not for the really young, are targeted for the teenagers. Or maybe, it’s just a change of preference? Any 90’s kid here wanna back me up? Whatever the reasons, we at WhenInManila.com decided to compile a list of some of our favorite and most missed cartoons from the 90’s!
Little Lulu
Aww, who could forget this little girl with her red dress and those pantyhose sticking out! It was such a simple show of Lulu’s everyday antics. ….”Little Lulu, Little Lulu With freckles on your skin. Always in and out of trouble. But mostly always in”…Did I get you singing yet?
Captain Planet
Some of my friends thought this show was kinda corny, personally I thought it was because of this show that I learned to appreciate Mother Nature. I feel like we need more shows like this to educate today’s youth of what’s happening to the world and how they can help preserve it. “Captain Planet…he’s the hero… gonna take pollution down to zero..” Yeah, I know you’re singing with me!
Jem and the Holograms
I used to really love this show! …and I think I started the habit of wearing earrings because of this too. It was like a Barbie-type show that every girl during that time just had to watch! The music was catchy, the characters were fashionable, and there was always a bit of drama and “crime-fighting” so to speak with the Misfits!
Tales from the Cryptkeeper
I personally dreaded this show, but my brothers absolutely loved it. I was a scaredy cat as a kid, in fact I still am, and cartoons like this just didn’t go well with me. Still, it was pretty interesting. It was one of those late Saturday night cartoons we got to watch every now and then.
Gummi Bears
Oh how could you not love these gummi bears? For some reason, they reminded me of the 7 dwarfs.
Dexter’s Laboratory
This was one of the cartoon’s that everyone watched! Dexter was a child genius and somewhat boring, but his annoying sister Didi just made everything so much more exciting!
ย Denver the Last Dinosaur
Back then, this was one of the reasons we fell in love with the idea of dinosaurs. My siblings and I wanted one for a pet!…if only it were possible.
Sailormoon
I’m not sure if they ever showed an English version of this in the Philippines, but I do remember the Tagalog version. “sa ngalan ng buwan…” (in the name of the moon)
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
They’ve remade this a couple of times, but nothing beats the classics. “Leonardo is a party dude!”
Jetsons and Flintstones
Both cartoons had the same concept and storyline, only difference was one was from the past and another set in the future. According to the Jetsons, we’d be flying in space by the 21st century! How I wish they were right.
