Top 10 Eraserheads Songs of All-Time (Part 2)

When in Manila, we are a nation that truly supports OPM rock bands! Speaking of which, I’ll be featuring a band that inspired the creation of a lot of our homegrown acts and still continue to do so. I’m talking about none other than Eraserheads!

 

 

 

 

This highly-popular band that started out in the late 80’s is originally formed by Ely Buendia (lead vocals/guitar), Buddy Zabala (bass), Raimund Marasigan (drums), Marcus Adoro (guitar). (Kris Gorra-Dancel of ‘Fatal Posporos’ replaced Ely as lead vocalist when he left sometime early 2000). Their music which describes college life and growing up in general, has reached its peak in the 90’s. And even though the members have gone separate ways ,their songs are still considered relevant by a lot of Pinoys up to now. Actually, I believe “timeless” is the operative word that best describes their music.

5. Ligaya

A lot of Pinays have been wooed by this cute, cheeky courtship song! It’s basically about a college student trying to win the girl’s heart even if he’s just a simple guy and he doesn’t have much to offer (but his love). Woo! Cheesiness to the maximum level! Still, it works!

 

 

 

 

 

4. Alapaap

If I could have it my way, I’ll put this video on the number one spot! This song gives you a feeling of euphoric joy, something you feel when you’re like, on a getaway with your closest friends or something. It’s a good pick-me-up song! It reminds me of summer vacations and the big, blue sky…*daydreaming*

 

 

 

 

 

3. With a Smile

This is a feel-good song which reminds us to never lose hope, that every problem has a solution and that we will weather life’s toughest challenges. This right here, is your best friend in a song.

 

 

 

2. Pare Ko

In this song, guy is talking to his best bud about his love life problem. The lyrics may be explicit at some parts, but I think it’s intentional since the guy’s confiding what he really feels about the situation. BTW there’s a clean version of this song entitled “Walanghiyang Pare Ko”. Seriously! LOL

 

 

 

1. Ang Huling El Bimbo

This has got to be the number 1 E-heads song of all time hands down! It’s about the nostalgic memory of one’s first love/childhood sweetheart/puppy love/whatever you’d call it. The ending’s sad since unfortunate events led them apart from each other but life goes on anyway. I remember doing the “El Bimbo Dance” with friends when I was a kid. Yes, arms touching and all! (And I’m sure a lot of girls, guys and gheys out there can relate to that lol)

 

 

I really found it hard to choose which songs to put on this Top Ten list because E-heads has a lot of great songs! But anyway, I hope you liked my two-part article.
