After two critically acclaimed sold-out runs in 2023, The Sandbox Collective is set to restage Bawat Bonggang Bagay (BBB) from June 22 to 30, 2024.
Featuring the versatile Jon Santos, Bawat Bonggang Bagay is a Filipino adaptation of Duncan Macmillan’s interactive one-man play Every Brilliant Thing. This unique translation has fostered deeper connections with Filipino audiences. With Santos’s insightful portrayal, the play’s exploration of mental health and sexuality resonated strongly, earning it high praise for its sensitive treatment of typically sensitive topics in Filipino culture.
BBB was first staged as a part of Sandbox Fest 2023, with a translation by Guelan Luarca. The show was nominated for Best Play, while Santos was nominated for Best Actor at the 2023 BroadwayWorld Philippines Awards. In September that year, a limited rerun was staged with six sold-out performances.
Bawat Bonggang Bagay will return as a special Pride month staging produced under The Sandbox Collective’s new special projects unit, The Sandbox Co. Labs.
While the 2024 rerun will be staged in a proscenium-style theater at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater, marking a departure from the play’s previous homes in smaller spaces, BBB will maintain the intimate, interactive nature of the material by placing the audience in the round and onstage with Santos. Director Jenny Jamora will once again be at the helm.
