It’s so easy to fall in love with a new restaurant when you know there’s amazing food and great vibes. That’s exactly how we knew thatย Sundays Cafe and Restaurant was going to be our newest favorite food destination.
Sundays Cafe and Restaurant is a new neighborhood favorite in the heart of Marikina City. Thanks to the elegant exteriors and twinkling lights at night, it’s easy to see the restaurant nestled beside a massive (and quite legendary) tree.
The restaurant and cafe are separated into two sections, making the vibe of the cafe different from the restaurant area. The cafe is intimate, cozy, and features a mix of minimalist-vintage accents. The restaurant, on the other hand, is spacious, features massive seating options, and has two function roomsโperfect for family gatherings! What brings both areas together is the overall bright and airy vibe of Sundays; everything about the space is just so pleasant.
They even have al fresco dining options in case you want to enjoy the fresh air outside.
The relaxing atmosphere of Sundays already makes this place so inviting, but it’s also their gastronomic food choices that will make you come back again and again.
Sundays Cafe and Restaurant has two menusโone for the cafe and one for the Filipino restaurant. While they do have two separate sections, you can order from both menus wherever you may be seated.
Comfort Food, Brunch, and Filipino Classics
Their cafe menu offers a wide array of savory comfort food and hearty brunch meals. They have such a variety of food choices that you’ll have to visit a couple of times to be able to find your true favorite dish.
We started off our meal with the most amazing appetizer: Rock Shrimp in Rock Sauce. It’s a martini glass filled to the top with crispy battered shrimp smothered in their tasty in-house special rock sauce. It was so good and instantly addicting! This was an appetizer we don’t normally find in the usual aesthetic cafes, and we’re so glad they have it at Sundays.
Their bestselling Homemade Bacon Slab on Kimchi Rice is one of our favorites. It’s such a crowd favorite that it easily sells out within the day! Their homemade bacon slab is so perfectly seasoned and it goes so well with the spicy kimchi rice. It’s filling, flavorful, and so satisfying.
Another bestseller that had us gushing in delight was the massive Sundays Cereal Fried Chicken and Waffles. This is a must-try whether you’re here for brunch, afternoon snacks, or dinner. We were so amazed at how tender and juicy the fried chicken was. It was so tender that it literally separated as I lifted my fork. With the cereal batter’s crispiness, it gives a beautiful contrast in textures with every bite. The savory fried chicken paired with the sweet waffles also creates an instant party of flavors in your mouth. Plus, that fried chicken was as big as my face!
If you’re looking for something sweet for brunch, you also have to try their fluffy Blueberry Ricotta Pancakes!
On their cafe menu, there are also choices of pasta (try the Bacon Carbonara with Poached Egg), gourmet pizza (try the Proscuitto and Arugula), meaty burgers, stuffed omelettes, and healthy smoothie bowls. You’ll find something that can easily satisfy whatever you’re craving.
From their restaurant menu, they offer classic Pinoy dishes such as sisig, crispy pata, kare-kare, and bulalo! If you’re out to eat with the family, Sundays has lots of great choices with massive servings that will leave everybody stuffed and content.
Desserts, Pastries, and Great Drinks
Top off your hearty meal with one of their delicious homemade cakes made by the family themselves! Their Tres Leches Cake is so moist, creamy, and fluffy, but it’s made even better by the crunchy corn flakes sprinkled on top.
You should also bring home a few of their pastries such as the 75% Dark Chocolate Oatmeal Cookie or the Hokkaido Parmesan Tart.
For drinks, you can definitely enjoy one of their strong coffee drinks, but if you’re up for something fresh and sweet, try one of their deliciously mind-blowing smoothies. Their Strawberry Shaken Smoothie is one of the best I’ve tried!
A Neighborhood Favorite
Aside from their scrumptious dishes and the alluring ambiance inside the restaurant, their friendly and welcoming staff are also one of the biggest reasons why Sundays has become an instant neighborhood favorite. Everything about this cafe and restaurant is just so captivating! It’s no surprise why they’re always filled with happy diners even on the weekdays.
Whether you’re living in Marikina City or you just happen to be in the area, Sundays Cafe and Restaurant is one food destination you have to check out. Be sure to reserve a table because it can get full really quickly!
