The University of the Philippines Association of Chemistry Majors and Enthusiasts (UP ACME) is a duly recognized, non-partisan, non-religious, non-stock, non-profit, student-oriented organization based in the Institute of Chemistry at the College of Science. Since its foundation in 1997, the organization has been dedicated to promoting the study of chemistry in the Philippine setting through various university-based and community-based projects and events.
Over the years, UP ACME has provided a nurturing environment where its members can develop leadership skills, a passion for learning, and an aptitude for teamwork. This has enabled members to win competitions, graduate with honors, top board exams, and pursue distinguished careers both in academia and industry. As it approaches its 28th founding anniversary, the organization remains committed to being a beacon of truth by promoting critical thinking and scientific literacy among its members and the general public. UP ACME continues to be “where matter meets purpose.”
Thesis It! is an undergraduate thesis symposium that will be held on-site at UP Diliman on October 26, 2024. Primarily targeting the chemistry undergraduate students of the Institute of Chemistry, University of the Philippines Diliman, the event has three main objectives:
- To introduce the various chemistry research laboratories within the Institute;
- To provide sophomore and junior undergraduate students with insights into conducting their undergraduate thesis; and
- To help students determine which chemistry specializations they may wish to pursue in the future.
This year, Thesis It! 2024 will showcase a range of laboratories from various fields of chemistry, including physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry, and inorganic chemistry. The event will also feature a guest speaker who will share their experiences and insights on attending international conferences and symposia.
