The Greatest Showmanย tells the true to life story of PT Barnum, an American showman who founded the Barnum & Bailey Circus in 1871, which promoted circus hoaxes like the Feejee Mermaid and Tom Thumb. He was one of the greatest advertisers, drawing in crowds for things that he claims they have never seen before.
The film is directed by Michael Gracey and starsย ย Hugh Jackman,ย Zac Efron,ย Michelle Williams,ย Rebecca Ferguson, andย Zendaya.
It has received mixed reviews, with Rotten Tomatoesย sayingย “The Greatest Showmanย tries hard to dazzle the audience with a Barnum-style sense of wonder โ but at the expense of its complex subject’s far more intriguing real-life story.”
It will premiere on January 31, 2018.
