Unclean air, unsafe water, hazardous soil, toxins everywhere- what can we do about this? Our planet is not safe anymore because of different hazardous materials that our electronic devices have. Feeling reluctant to dream of a better world? You shouldn’t be. There is still hope.
UP Circuit, DLSU ECES, PNU UNESCO Club, UP Manila Medicine Student Council, SSC Communication Society and Mapua MICRO brings you The E-Waste Project. By this, dreaming of a better world will be much easier. With your open handed help, we can heal the wounded earth and we can restore the hopeful youth. The E-Waste Project is an effort to address the issue of environmental hazards associated with the improper disposal of e-waste. E-waste drive will be conducted in different universities wherein people are encouraged to donate their old and/or defective electronic gadgets.
The E-waste drive will be held on these following dates and venues:
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย DLSU: August 26-30, 2013
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย MICRO Tambayan, Mapua (Intramuros): September 2-6, 2013
AS Parking Lot, UP Diliman: September 10-13, 2013
St. Scholasticaโs College Field: November 11-15, 2013
UPCM Student Lounge, UP Manila: November 11-December 13, 2013
ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย ย PNU: November 18- December 13, 2013
The collected e-waste will then be sold to Envirocycle, a duly accredited company by the DENR that specializes in the proper disposal of e-wastes.
The proceeds collected will be used as funds for AKBAY (Advanced Knowledge for the Betterment of Aspiring Youth) โ a socio-civic project which aims to improve computer literacy in the Philippines. This year, with your help, we aim to provide at least ten (10) new computer stations to AKBAY 2014โs beneficiary school, Caloocan High school.
