Surftown Villa is a vacation rental located in the central area of San Juan, La Union. It’s only a few minutes’ drive from the Municipal Hall, and is walking distance from the town’s public market. So, if you’re traveling with a group who loves being in the central parts of an area they’re visiting, this is a great option.
Owned by a couple from Baguio City, this villa was just opened to the public in the second half of 2024. Jhonna and Ramon Gualberto shares with WhenInManila.com that they’ve always considered La Union as their second home, and it was their dream to own a beachside home.
So, when they found a plot of land after the pandemic, it was a sign to build what is now Surftown Villa. “Initially envisioned as both a vacation retreat and a future retirement haven, we chose to share this slice of paradise with others through Airbnb,” they share.
The villa is neatly nestled in a quieter part of the area, while still being easily accessible via public transport.
The home looks cozy and intimate from the outside, but stepping inside is like walking into your very own pocket of paradise.
Going through the front door, you’ll instantly step inside a spacious living area and lounge. Right behind the door is a peaceful little nook with floor-to-ceiling glass walls, offering a serene view of the cute garden outside. It’s perfect for peaceful and quiet mornings with a cup of coffee and a good book.
The living area and lounge offer more than enough space for your friends and family to hang out after a long day on the beach.
To the side, there’s a dining area with a 6-seater dining table, a cute breakfast nook for two, and a complete kitchen with a microwave, coffee maker, full-sized fridge, and complete cookware and dinnerware. All you have to do to enjoy a delicious home-cooked feast in this villa is to bring the ingredients!
One underrated feature of the kitchen is the small window that looks out at the field in front of the villa. It offers a serene and picturesque view that you can enjoy while cooking or washing your dishes.
The dining table, on the other hand, offers a view of the private pool thanks to the glass walls and sliding glass doors.
When you step out the glass doors, you instantly have access to the villa’s private plunge pool. It’s deep enough for adults to enjoy a refreshing dip, especially after a long day of surfing, sunbathing, and walking by the beach. The lush foliage and mini garden around the pool offers the perfect setting for a quick dip, too.

On another side of the plunge pool sit the two bedrooms that can accommodate 6 people in total. If you’re visiting La Union with your family or barkada, this villa offers more than enough room for all of you.
The main bedroom has a cozy queen-sized bed, while the second bedroom features a double bed, and two single beds. Both rooms include a private bathroom, a work station, and a closet with more than enough space for you to store all your travel essentials.
The bedrooms also both have direct access and a stunning view of the outdoor pool.
The Gualbertos also talked about the villa’s emphasis on seamless indoor-outdoor living.
“We wanted to create a sanctuary where every moment feels like a vacation,” they share with WhenInManila.com. The villa’s design effectively blends “the comfort of indoor spaces with the
beauty of the outdoor environment.”
“The aim was to craft a space where relaxation and enjoyment flow naturally, making every stay feel like an escape to paradise,” they said.
We loved having our very own pocket of paradise in the heart of San Juan, La Union—enjoying the coziness and luxury of the chic villa while feeling the sun shine on our faces and the ocean breeze on our skin once we stepped outside.
Surftown Villa is also only a few minutes’ walk away from the beach. So, while it may be accessible to most party places in San Juan, you also have the option to just stay in the villa and enjoy the beach that’s just a few moments away.
