On Instagram, Sunshine posted a series of photos from the recently concluded “Bench Body of Work” fashion show. In the post, she shared that the past few months had been a “roller coaster” ride.
“I was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease called myasthenia gravis which has made building muscle a real struggle,” she wrote.
Myasthenia Gravis is a chronic autoimmune disorder that causes muscle weakness that worsens with activity. The key symptoms include difficulty swallowing, drooping eyelids, and weakness in the arms, legs, or neck, among others.
According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, this chronic neuromuscular disease commonly affects young adult women under 40 and older men over 60.
Despite being diagnosed with an autoimmune disease, the 47-year-old actress proved that she was able to conquer the highly anticipated fashion event: “Walking for Bench was a powerful reminder of what’s possible even when things are tough. To all my fellow moms and Gen Xers, never give up on your dreams.”
“I’m so honored to be part of the Bench family. The show was incredible. Everyone was AMAZING,” she added.
Moreover, her daughter Angelina also graced the same runway last March 21.
