Studio Ghibli fans, mark your calendars! Studio Ghibli films are coming to the big screen this November.

In celebration of 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Awardee Hayao Miyazaki, Studio Ghibli, The Japan Foundation Manila, and the Ramon Magsaysay Award Foundation, along with Shangri-La Plaza and Fully Booked, will host a Studio Ghibli Weekend mini film festival in Manila.
Six Studio Ghibli films will be screened this November. These include Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984), Castle in the Sky (1986), My Neighbor Totoro (1988), Spirited Away (2001), Howl’s Moving Castle (2004), and Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea (2008).
Good news: Admission is free for interested moviegoers and Studio Ghibli enthusiasts. However, tickets will be available on a first-come, first-served basis on November 4.
The film festival will take place on November 16 and 17 at the Shangri-La Plaza Red Carpet Cinema.

In August, Hayao Miyazaki, the genius filmmaker and founder behind Studio Ghibli, was one of the five recipients of this year’s Ramon Magsaysay Awards.
Apart from the six iconic films that will be screened next month, Miyazaki is recently applauded for his latest work The Boy and the Heron (2023), which won a Golden Globes, a BAFTA, and an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature Film.
