Students Can Wear Gender-Affirming Uniforms at This University in Manila

The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila (PLM) recently released an administrative order which contains a gender-responsive policy. Now, LGBTQIA+ students can wear gender-affirming uniforms at their school.

According to LGBTQIA+ student organization PLM Propaganda, “uniforms or clothes, in general, are a part of our everyday lives. These articles of clothing can be important to one’s identity as they are ways of expressing ourselves, particularly gender.” PLM’s Administrative Order 21 – ACA, series of 2022 is “a huge step towards a progressive and inclusive PLM.”

The organization wrote as they shared photos of their students, “With that, the PLM Propaganda is delighted to see our women of beauty and power wearing their gender-affirming uniforms.”
