6. Great food at The Old Swiss Inn
A favorite attraction among locals and expatriates is the Old Swiss Inn Restaurant, famous since 1946 for authentic Swiss and European cuisine. Many people were charmed by its authentic Swiss cuisine, quaint wooden interiors, and personal service. Now more than 60 years later, the Old Swiss Inn finds itself catering to a new generation of diners.
A lot of people know the location of Somerset Olympia because they’ve been to the Old Swiss Inn. If you haven’t, this is another great reason why you should visit Somerset Olympia.
Bundnerteller which is a plate of Air dried swiss meat specialties such as prosciutto, dried beef, salami and smoked sausage. There were both light and heavy meat that was on the plate. Really went well with red wine and cheese.
Herb Rack of Lamb was the highlight of the evening. This is a tender Australian lamb rack, delicately infused with herbs, au jus gravy and rosemary potatoes with mint jelly on the side. Best rack I’ve ever tasted. It was a lot as well. You can choose from 250 grams- 1kg. I suggest the more the merrier.
US Black Angus Prime Rib served with angus rice, potatoes or salad. Mouth watering and cooked to perfection.
The Old Swiss Inn is known for their fondues. They have a variety from their classic cheese to even seafood. We tried their white chocolate fondue which is served with a plate of fresh fruit and marshmallows! Make sure to let the marshmallow melt into that chocolate for added happiness!
