Let’s go travel back in time, specifically about 10 years ago: former teen star Britney Spears was in the throes of her very public meltdown, a guy by the name of Barack Obama would go on to be US President, we definitely had our eyes peeled on Paris Hilton and not Kim Kardashian, and Nick Jonas and Selena Gomez were two doe-eyed Disney stars in puppy love.
Selena and Nick sort-of secretly dated for months back in the day; Selena, then the Wizards of Waverly Place star figured as Nick’s love interest in the Jonas Brothers’ Burnin’ Up music video and the rest, as they say, is history.
And while much has since happened and Nick and Selena had since gone their separate ways while embarking on very successful careers outside Disney, it’s fun to take a trip down memory lane. (And for the record, team #Nelena all the way; fight me, #Niley fans.)

Nick was reminded of this interesting time in his life after he appeared on BBC Radio 1 where he was attached to a heart rate monitor while host Nicholas Grimshaw purposely tried to get his heart rate up. Selena sent in a personalized video asking Nick about their date in Central Park 10 years ago!
In the video, Selena said:
“Hello Nicholas, it’s Selena Gomez. I don’t need to say my full name with you, but it is. So I know what you’re doing, and I would like to remind you of a time where we all went to Central Park together. It was definitely over 10 years ago. I was wondering if that brought up anything for you. You know, Central Park was really beautiful. It was actually my first time. Maybe that says something? If not, I failed.”
Nick’s heart rate had gone up, quickly explaining what Selena meant.
“This was at a time where my brothers and I were a boy band, and we were in Central Park. And we were very private about our relationship and she was unhappy that her Central Park experience was ruined by the fact that I walked about 20 feet away from her even though they were taking pictures of us and obviously we were there together, I was like, ‘it’d be better if we stood about 25 feet apart. So it ruined her Central Park experience. So her and Taylor Swift—who was dating my brother Joe, but we never confirmed it—walked about 25 feet behind us as we walked through the park by ourselves.”
All the feels, indeed! Still, it’s nice to see Nick and Selena friendly towards each other after all these years.
