Rosmar Tan’s Remark on Typhoon Kristine Victims Sparks Mixed Reactions Online

Content creator Rosmar Tan came under fire from netizens for a recent social media post she wrote in light of severe tropical storm Kristine.

In a now-deleted Facebook post on October 23, Rosmar shared her sentiments on those suffering from the effects of the storm.

“Ang hirap isipin na habang kami nakahiga sa malambot na kama, kagigising lang at naka-aircon, ang daming bata, matanda na di na alam paano ililigtas sarili sa Bicol dahil sa baha at bagyo (It’s hard to think that while we’re lying in a soft bed, just waking up in an air-conditioned room, so many children and elderly people in Bicol don’t even know how to save themselves because of the flood and typhoon),” the now-deleted post on Facebook reads.

The now-deleted post was met with mixed comments from social media users. While others were asking for assistance, some were calling her post “insensitive” and “tone-deaf.”

Since then, the content creator has been actively requesting monetary donations, sending out relief goods, and providing help to those affected by the storm.

“R Mansion House Endorsers at syempre pati ako susugod na BICOL para magbigay ng tulong personally. Bukas after pictorial deretso repack na kami (R Mansion House endorsers, and of course, I will also be heading to Bicol to provide assistance personally. Tomorrow, after the pictorial, we’ll go straight to repacking),” she wrote in another Facebook status.

The entrepreneur has previously filed her certificate of candidacy as councilor of Manila.
