On February 19, the foundation introduced “Chick #31” or Riley as part of their 38th anniversary surprise.
“With immense pride, we introduce Chick #31, our newest hatchling named Riley!” it wrote. “Born on January 16, 2025, Riley is the offspring of our cherished eagles Sinag and Dakila. This significant event marks a groundbreaking achievement, as Riley’s hatching is the first-ever documented unassisted natural hatching, a true testament to the resilience and strength of our #pefat38 conservation efforts.”
“Riley is growing stronger every day, and as she continues to thrive, we’re excited to share that she will be transferred to a bigger nest tomorrow to accommodate her growing size,” it added.
The organization also expressed its deep gratitude to Eagle Cement Corporation for adopting Riley, as well as its efforts to preserve these creatures for future generations.
Organized in 1987, the Philippine Eagle Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving the endangered Philippine Eagle and its rainforest habitat.
The Philippine Eagle, named the national bird of the Philippines in 1995, is now considered a critically endangered species in the country. It is also regarded as one of the rarest birds in the world, with an estimated population of fewer than 500 individuals.
Here are some photos of Riley, as shared by the organization:
