Making a triumphant comeback, the Red Charity Gala 2023 surpasses its goal of raising 5 Million pesos!
The highly awaited fashion and charity event undoubtedly had a very successful return this year at The Peninsula Manila, managing to raise a total of Php 7.5 million during the nightโs auction benefiting various non-government foundations. This is 50% more than the gala’s target amount that was reported earlier this month.
Some of the auctioned items at the event were mesmerizing art pieces by renowned artists Patrick Coard and Jigger Cruz, as well as an Omega watch and more intricate jewelry pieces by JMA Jewelry, Diagold, and Jewelmer. Plus, luxurious experiences at the Philippines’ Balesin Island Club and Crimson Resort and Spa Boracay were sold to the highest bidders, including Thailand’s Anantara Vacation Club Phuket, Zambia’s Royal Chundu River Lodge by A2a Safaris. Accommodations at The Peninsula Hotels around the globe were also bid off, specifically in the cities of Manila, Bangkok, Istanbul, and London. On the other hand, Crate & Barrel and Genteel Home auctioned off home and living packages too, while Luminisce, Rhodium Regenerative Institute, and SpectruMedโs Sofwave put up beauty and wellness packages.
As the auction concluded, the highlight of the night began โ the Red Charity Gala 2023 Fashion Show featuring Ivarluski Aseron’s “A Memoir in Motion” collection. This follows its annual tradition of showcasing stellar Filipino fashion designers, namely, Rajo Laurel, Joey Samson, Chito Vijandre, Lesley Mobo, Jojie Lloren, Ezra Santos, Cary Santiago, Michael Cinco, Furne One Amato, and Dennis Lustico.ย
This year, Aseron took the spotlight by showcasing a collection that seamlessly weaves together his past designs and techniques with the modern ones that he has explored and developed over the years. According to him, it was a great honor to launch the anthology of his work at the Red Charity Gala 2023. Especially since the event will benefit the Philippine Red Cross, Assumption High School Batch 1981 Foundation, and Hope For Lupus Foundation.
Throughout its run since 2009 by founders Tessa Prieto and Kaye Tinga, this culmination of fashion and charity has left a significant mark on various communities. Their impactful initiatives include the establishment of two children’s libraries in Eastern Samar and the provision of two-year senior high school scholarships for 20 deserving students in Passi, Iloilo. Moreover, they have actively engaged in training young volunteers for essential skills like first aid, emergency response, and disaster preparedness.
They have also organized swift relief operations during disasters. In the midst of the pandemic, for example, the foundations stepped up their efforts, extending support to frontliners by providing hot meals and fresh produce. During these challenging times, their resources were also allocated towards isolation facilities, vaccination sites, and RT-PCR saliva collection centers in Makati.
With the addition of the Hope for Lupus Foundation to the Red Charity Gala’s beneficiaries this year, it extends its aim to build awareness of the disease and provide support and guidance for those suffering from Lupus.ย
The Red Charity Gala 2023 is presented by Bench and Angkas, together with its generous partners, A2A Safaris, Jewelmer, Peninsula Manila, and Luminisce. It is also participated by Diagold, Emirates Airlines, Genteel Home, Remy Martin, Rhodium Regenerative Institute, Serta, and SpectruMed.
