Razzmatazz 2014: Rumaragasang Alon ng Sining, Armas Tungo sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago ng ย Lipunang Pilipino
One of the most-awaited events of the annual February Fair in the University of the Philippines Los Baรฑos (UPLB) is nearing its 11th iteration: a night of cultural performances and nationalist, pro-people principles hemmed into one.
Razzmatazz, the yearly event organized by socio-cultural organization Kapatirang Plebeians,ย centers on the โraging culture waveโ as a weapon for genuine social change. ย
Themed Rumaragasang Alon ng Sining, Armas Tungo sa Makabuluhang Pagbabago ngย Lipunang Pilipino; this yearโs Razzmatazz aims โto not only serve as a mere event in the week spanning the FebFair, but also to espouse creative self-expression, quality entertainment and cultural preservation and appreciation,โ according to Kapatirang Plebeians Tribune Joseph German Jesuitas.
โIn line with the orientation of the February Fair as a protest fair against the repressive policies, continuing commercialization of state education and the ever-intensifying oppression of the masses, we would like to put the masses at the forefront โ at the core โ of our event,โ said Jesuitas.
Attracting a wide range of audiences from inside and outside the campus premises, the event has invited bands and cultural performers throughout the country. For the past five years, Razzmatazz has featured the likes of Brownman Revival, Sandwich, Sugarfree and Silent
Sanctuary; linked with local bands in a continuous effort to energize the cultural scene in the Los Baรฑos community. It has also invited the likes of Talahib, BLKD, The Axel Pinpin Propaganda Machine and TaBaKK.
Indeed, the historical significance of the February Fair in the history of the UPLB campus and of the whole student movement has never been erased from memory through the Razzmatazzโ raging waves.
