If you drive through the Tomas Morato and Timog area, you’ll notice that there are lots of spas and salons to choose from. Just off the beaten path, though, on Scout Torillo Avenue, lies a fairly new spa called Posh Tips Blow Dry & Nail Bar. From unique hair colors to 3D nail art, I’m here to tell you all the reasons you should skip the other spas along the main road and go here instead. As soon as I walked in and saw that the walls were painted my favorite color, I knew I was going to love Posh Tips. It’s a small, cozy spa with a very welcoming atmosphere. The blow dry bar occupies the first floor and is where all hair treatments take place, such as hair coloring and keratin treatments. Upstairs is where the nail and spa action is, and we were delighted when we went upstairs and saw these super plush, comfortable looking chairs lined up and waiting for us.
You’re probably wondering, “What makes this spa so different from any other spa?” Well, at Posh Tips, you’ll find products and services that you can’t find anywhere else locally. The owner, Ms. Tintin Padilla, uses local products but also has a wide range of nail polishes and products that have been imported from Europe to add a unique flair to the spa’s offerings. Additionally, they have a diverse range of hair colors from natural shades of brown and red to wild, vibrant blue and violet colors that are almost impossible to find anywhere else in the city – I would know, I’ve been looking for a salon in Manila that would dye my hair purple for a year now!
In addition to the vast selection of nail polish brands and colors, Posh Tips earns bragging rights for being one of the very few nail salons in the Philippines to offer 3D nail art. 3D nail art was an entirely new concept to me, so I was super pleased to have the chance to have my fingernails decorated with it. While my nails were being soaked, cleaned, and filed in preparation for the polish, I looked over the samples of 3D nail art as well as some nail magazines to get an idea of what I wanted.
The nail artists at Posh Tips are incredibly talented; I just picked a design that I loved out of a magazine and my specialist was able to replicate it! Just imagine, they have stacks of nail art magazines for you to browse through, and they can replicate just about anything you see in them! I chose a design that was featured on the cover of one of the magazines with a pretty, deep blue color and silver and gold decals.
While I was getting a manicure, my feet were simultaneously being treated by the Queen Foot Spa. This delicious treat for my feet included an organic foot mask that soothes and nourishes skin, a foot soak filled with gel microbeads, callous filing, and a very much enjoyed foot massage!
Oh, and just in case you’re under the impression that spa dates are for women only – you’re wrong! I brought my husband along to get some relaxing spa action as well, and he enjoyed a parrafin wax treatment on both his hands and feet, and organic foot mask, and a hand and foot massage. Maybe men don’t admit to liking being pampered as much as us women do, but they still do!
After my Queen Foot Spa and manicure was done, my nail artist went on to paint my toes. I chose a glittery gold polish that would match the gold decals on my fingernails. I’m not usually a gold person, but it turned out beautifully and my toenails and fingernails complemented each other perfectly!
