When in Manila, it’s that time of the year when local reality shows are the craze! We just can’t get enough of watching real people battle their way to survival, and in the process, show their emotions, raw and unadulterated. And with the opening of two of the highly-anticipated reality shows on Philippine television, we now have something to make our weekday nights exciting once again!
First up is Survivor Philippines Celebrity Doubles Showdown, the show where 10 pairs of celebrity contestants get to be stranded on an isolated area for 39 days and battle it out to become the Pinoy Celebrity Survivor.

Toni Gonzaga and Bianca Gonzales are still the main hosts of PBB Season 4, together with two new hosts from PBB Teen Edition Plus ex-housemate Robi Domingo and Music Uplate Live Martin Concio. PBB Unlimited was launched last October 29, 2011.

one would ask, which really is the better reality show among the two these two? I could only say that the answer lies only on one’s preference. Its just like asking which is better, baseball or basketball; similar genre(sport) but two different things. Saying that one is better just because one has more fans is not actually a plausible argument. The best way to see which one is “better” is to take a look at the show and compare it to a certain standard.
as a reality show… both shows seem to display enough criteria to be called a reality show however, survivor has a better clench on its theme. PBB seems like a talent show on the facade of a reality show. I have seen BB from other countries and the PH version is really different and sometimes corny…
as an entertainment medium… PBB has more variety on it and can attract more viewers than survivor that only has one theme. As what I have mentioned before, people have different likes and dislikes so having more variety could get you more viewers.
as a contest… how could you win PBB? how could you win Survivor? clearly, survivor puts on a more competitive feeling than PBB. In PBB, its like the contestants are just going with the flow and there are times wherein the most “kawawa” looking or the one with the cutest love team would win while in survivor, you have to do things you do not even want to do, you might even defile not only your name but other’s name as well just to win. Plus the factor harsh environment.

Eh sa PBB hindi mo pa nmn sila kilala, pero si Kuya inaallow niya na makilala nten sila. Yun ang tunay na reality show. Its not being tsismosa/Tsismoso, you’re just being aware of what’s happening inside the house. COMMENTING. 😀
