The Philippines is set to host the 2023 Downhill Skateboarding and Street Luge World Championships in Tagaytay City from February 22 to 25, 2024. This is the first time that the World Championships will be hosted in the country, marking a significant historical milestone for the Philippine skateboarding community.
Among the athletes who are set to participate in this global competition are Philippine representatives and Team Skate Pilipinas members Sebastian Chanco and Rydelle Abarico. Abarico, who is currently ranked as the third fastest downhill skateboarder in the world, recently won her first gold medal at the women’s finals of the Tropical Downhill Race in Thailand. The equally talented Chanco achieved an impressive 4th place finish in the men’s category of the same event. Â
