Right after the raffle winners were announced, we all settled for the movie. As soon as the lights went out and everybody fell silent, I braced myself for an hour and a half of action, thrill, and mythology overdose.

Having watched the first Percy Jackson movie, I was eagerly anticipating what the latest installment has to offer. I thought the first movie was good and expected the same giddy feeling–the kind that makes you think you’re still a high school freshman–from seeing the heroes you just read in books come to life in the big screen, which totally makes learning Greek mythology a lot easier–and more fun.

The movie was alright. Truthfully, there were hits and misses and I kind of left the cinema kinda hoping that the film extends long enough to satisfy my craving for more action because I think that this one’s a bit lackluster compared to its prequel. Check out my movie review.

Don’t get me wrong, though. I enjoyed watching it. I may no longer be a kid, but Percy Jackson is the kind of movie that I can watch time and time again because of the young boy in me. But the critic and film fan in me feels that the director could’ve done a lot better.ย
