Good news: Parokya Ni Edgar lead guitarist Gab Chee Kee is now out of the intensive care unit (ICU) as shared by the Pinoy rock band on their Instagram account.
Gab, who was earlier reported to be suffering from pneumonia due to complications brought about by his lymphoma, for which he has been undergoing chemotherapy in the past months, is now recovering thanks to the overwhelming help and support from fans and friends in the music industry.
“Finally!!! Gab is out of the ICU! Thank you Lord! Though still far from 100%, he has already transferred to a progressive room to continue his recovery from the pneumonia and the complications brought after. Pwede na rin siya humawak ng cellphone at nababasa niya ang mga comments, kaya wag kayo magulat kung biglang mag-reply siya sa inyo!” the band said in a post updating everyone on the state of Gab’s health.

“Since nababasa niya to, positive comments please para pang tulong sa recovery! Bawal mga negastar!” they added.
They further explained that Gab won’t be leaving the hospital “anytime soon” but definitely seems to be in high spirits, evidenced by the photo of him playing guitar on the hospital bed. “Eto siya, nagpapraktis na mag gitara para makapag-gig ulit siya para sa inyo!” Parokya ni Edgar shared.
“Maraming-maraming salamat ulit sa mga tumulong, nagdasal, at namahagi ng good vibes para sa recovery ni Gab! Once he has completely recovered from the pneumonia and complications, he can continue with the treatment for his lymphoma. Slowly but surely, gagaling si Gab!”
News of Gab’s condition first came to light when frontman Chito Miranda made a post asking for help with Gab’s “overwhelming hospital bills.” He shared that even though Gab didn’t want to “burden” anyone by making his health condition public, he along with close musician friends like Ebe Dancel convinced Gab to “not to deny the people who cared for him the opportunity to help him out.”
Since then, other bands have been holding fundraising gigs for Gab. The Eraserheads even auctioned off a signed guitar to help out with the hospital expenses.
We’re happy to hear that Gab is steadily making progress to full recovery and we wish the best for him.
