Let’s start!

Before anything else, the paperwork! All trapezers are required to sign this waiver before class.

And now, we begin. You will be strapped into your harness belt and instructors will then explain everything you need to know before your first go. Don’t worry, they will also answer any and all questions from nervous first timers.

Initial training includes simulation of what you will be doing once you’re actually up there and the commands that will be used throughout the session.

It also includes a dry run of what you are to do when you get on the trapeze itself.

This involves being upside-down on a stationary trapeze.

And, we’re set to go!

Basically, how it works is: everyone in the group take turns going on the trapeze and trying what was just practiced on the stationary trapeze. The very first go is the scariest, of course, since you have no idea what’s coming next.

But hey, you will eventually get the hang of it and soon enough you’ll be focusing on your trapeze poses!

Each turn is over all too quickly!

Honestly, I feel like this is something that everyone should try at least once in their lives. It’s an exhilarating, liberating experience to be flying on that trapeze.

Yep, running away to join the circus is now a viable life goal!

All in all, it was a great learning experience. As it goes with these things, you learn a lot from the new activity but you learn more about yourself. Honestly, if you told me a year ago that I’d be on a flying trapeze at some point in my life, I wouldn’t believe you but now I’d go back and try it again in a heartbeat! It’s not just the trapeze you conquer but also yourself.
