In a statement, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman and MMFF overall Chairman Don Artes announced that the festival’s run, initially scheduled to end on January 7, has been extended until January 14, in select cinemas.
“We, at the MMFF, are overwhelmed with the continued support of the public for the festival’s 50th edition. Due to public clamor, we have decided to extend the theatrical run of the MMFF movies to further showcase the locally produced films that are truly impressive and artistically excellent,” he said.
MMFF complimentary passes will also be honored until January 14.
Proceeds from the festival will go to beneficiaries in the film industry, including the Movie Workers Welfare Foundation (Mowelfund), the Film Academy of the Philippines, the Motion Picture Anti-Film Piracy Council, the Optical Media Board, and the Film Development Council of the Philippines (FDCP).
Now in its 50th edition, the MMFF is organized by the MMDA and aims to promote Philippine movies and cinema.
