This is big! The Davao Fashion Design Council or DFDC was invited to supply traditional pieces of Mindanao’s indigenous groups to the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A) in London, which happens to be one of the largest collections of art and design masterpieces.

According to the DFDC President Dodjie L. Batu, they were contacted by the British Council about adding to the V&A’s Philippine creations, where it include a terno by the designer, Salvacion Lim “Slim” Higgins. Batu also stated, “Considering that this is the biggest museum in London, we are really grateful that the DFDC will be able to showcase Davao Region.”
For those who don’t know, Davao City is the home of eleven indigenous people that come from different parts of Mindanao. With that, Batu is now working with different local government units to finalize which tribes will be featured as they are planning to bring the pieces by September. They are also hoping to stage a fashion show for the Filipino community in London. Now, that’s grand!
