Don’t worry, you weren’t just imagining that today’s heat was somehow more unbearable than any other day — it actually was. According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), Metro Manila experienced its highest heat index of the year this April 22.

According to weather forecaster Lorie Dela Cruz, Metro Manila’s heat index peaked at 42°C. It was recorded at 1:50 pm at the Science Garden, Quezon City. The actual temperature peaked at 35.2°C.
Dela Cruz added that we can only expect warmer days to come in the remaining days of April.
While Metro Manila recorded a higher temperature of 35.8°C yesterday, today’s heat index indicates higher levels of humidity. This is what makes people more prone to succumbing to heat stress.
Dela Cruz reminded people to stay indoors from 12 noon until 4 pm in order to avoid the worst of the heat.
