On April 15, the actor broke the announcement on Instagram that he is now part of the Philippine Army, under the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM). He said, “I officially joined the Philippine ARMY today because I love my country. I would like to thank the people that have been very supportive. Exciting times ahead.”

He also quoted ARESCOM Commander, Major General Bernie Langub in the caption. “The rank is emplaced near their heart because it means only those who have the heart to serve will be fit to wear the uniform,” he wrote. “It is beyond the uniform, it is all about willingness to serve the country and being prepared for any eventuality.”
Matteo has previously been inducted into the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary in March together with Erwan Heussaff and Nico Bolzico.
