“Finally! I have been dying to share this secret with you for months,” Maris wrote on the caption of her Instagram post. “Tonight at midnight, as I turn 23, celebrate with me by listening to my gift for you, a song that I have worked so hard on.”
The song features an upbeat melody but with sad, melancholic lyrics that Maris wrote herself. “But what if I donโt? / Where do I go home? / I know itโs my fault / And I leave tomorrow / Your love is a song / Canโt stop singing it / Your love is just too pretty / But itโs not for me,” the chorus goes.
Maris also credited OPM icon Rico Blanco for producing and arranging the song for her.
