Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, Serena Williams plus other Tennis Stars Coming to Manila
Filipino tennis have something to be excited for. Some of the biggest names in tennis, including Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, and Serena Williams will be coming to the Philippines for the International Premier Tennis League (IPTL) this November! The Mall of Asia Arena is announced as the partner of the “Manila Mavericks” and official house of the IPTL in the Philippines.
Mall of Asia Arena, the architectural ‘eye’con under lifestyle and entertainment solutions company, SM Lifestyle Entertainment, Inc. will host the inaugural IPTL season from November 28 – 30, 2014, bringing to the city some of the world’s finest tennis stars for an epic three-day display of sport and entertainment. During the three-day extravaganza, the Manila Mavericks will take on the UAE Royals, Singapore Slammers, and Indian Aces for the winning team’s purse of USD 1 million.
The Manila Mavericks team is composed of Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, teammates Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Kirsten Flipkens, Daniel Nestor, Carlos Moya, and top Philippine player Treat Huey
Serena Williams, Tomas Berdych, Lleyton Hewitt, and Patrick Rafter will play for the Singapore Slammers
Ana Ivanovic, Gael Monfils, and Fabrice Santoro will play for the Indian Aces
Richard Gasquet, Goran Ivanisevic, and Eugenie Bouchard will play for the UAE Royals
The IPTL is a unique team-based tennis league founded by multiple grand-slam tennis winner, India’s Mahesh Bhupathi. Featuring 21 Grand Slam Champions and 14 World Number Ones, the league will play across four countries in Asia, namely Manila, Singapore, India, and Dubai from November 28 to December 13, 2014.
The Manila Mavericks boasts of Maria Sharapova, Andy Murray, teammates Jo-Wilfred Tsonga, Kirsten Flipkens, Daniel Nestor, Carlos Moya, and top Philippine player Treat Huey. Other key players to participate in Manila are: Serena Williams, Tomas Berdych, Lleyton Hewitt, and Patrick Rafter for the Singapore Slammers; Ana Ivanovic, Gael Monfils, and Fabrice Santoro for the Indian Aces; and Richard Gasquet, Goran Ivanisevic, and Eugenie Bouchard for the UAE Royals.
As official home of the International Premier Tennis League, Assistant Vice President of Mall of Asia Arena Arnel Gonzales adds, “We are very excited to house the IPTL. The IPTL will give the Philippine Tennis fans, families, and young adults a world-class stage to watch the best current ATP and WTA players up close and personal as they compete for team victory.
A big year for the Mall of Asia Arena
The premiere venue for sports and entertainment, Mall of Asia Arena has had quite a year so far. With the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship, One FC, 2NE1 World Tour, Miss Earth Philippines, Bone Thugs and Harmony, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars, UAAP and PBA occupying the first half of the year, the Mall of Asia Arena holds true to its reputation as a tourist destination for local and international acts.

3. Prepare for a night full of beauty and splendor as a batch of hopeful ladies vie for the title of Miss Tourism World Philippines. Grand Coronation Night takes place on September 23

Mariah will be singing famous hits such as #Beautiful, You’re Mine, and You Don’t Know What to Do off of her newest album, Me. I am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse.
Rounding the year for the Mall of Asia Arena is the concert of Mr. Big, Allen Iverson’s coaching for the All In basketball game, and Tommy Walker
7. American rock group Mr. Big is coming to town! With the promise to sing their greatest hits such as Green-Tinted Sixties Mind Mr. Big, will be performing at the Mall of Asia Arena on October 31
8. 11-time NBA All-Star Allen Iverson is coming to the Philippines as a coach for the “All In” basketball game on November 5. The “All In” basketball game is a charity event for the benefit of Gawad Kalinga.
9. Popular Christian artist Tommy Walker will be performing for the benefit of the Typhoon Yolanda survivors on November 11.
