“Maalala Mo Kaya” to Return After 2 Years

The iconic “Maalala Mo Kaya” (MMK) is finally making a much-awaited comeback on free television and digital streaming platforms this April.

During the ABS-CBN Ball on April 4, the show’s host, Charo Santos-Concio, shared her excitement for the anthology series’ return after more than two years.

“It will share the beautiful stories of our letter senders, of our Kapamilyas,” she said.

“In my heart, I knew that one day babalik siya (it will return). Because the loyal viewers and the new generation of viewers are looking forward to watching the true-to-life stories of our Kapamilyas,” she added.

She also expressed her gratitude to the viewers, specifically the Generation Z, who grew up watching the show: “Ang daming Gen Z na lumaki na nanonood ng MMK kasama ang kanilang mommies and daddies, lolas and lolos (A lot of Gen Z grew up watching MMK with their moms and dads, grandmas and grandpas). I’m so happy that they know MMK is a brand of good storytelling.

While it is set to return as a limited series, the highly anticipated drama will feature the life story of Sofronio Vasquez, the first Filipino to win the American talent show The Voice. In the pilot episode, Elijah Canlas will portray Sofronio.

Moreover, Charo revealed that one of the BINI members’ stories would be featured.

“I’d like to welcome everyone to share your beautiful stories,” the veteran actress said enthusiastically.

Since its inception in 1991, “Maalala Mo Kaya” has been recognized as the longest-running drama anthology series, known for dramatizing the real-life stories of Filipinos. It ended in December 2022 with over 1,300 episodes released weekly.

“Maalala Mo Kaya” will be returning on April 24 through iWantTFC, A2Z, Kapamilya Online (Live), and Kapamilya Channel.
