University of Santo Tomas (UST) set a new record for “largest human sentence” as 16,729 people formed “MY TEACHER IS MY HERO!” while standing side by side at the UST grandstand on Friday (September 29).  The formation is in line with the celebration of National Teachers’ Month.

Based from the website of Guinness World Records, the present record for largest human sentence was achieved by Rotary International District 3000, Rotary Club of Perambalur New Gen, and Roever Group of Educational Institutions in India with 16,550 participants on August 10, 2016.  The attempt was organized to celebrate International Youth Day, the participants formed the sentence: “You can you will”.

UST’s record attempt would have to be confirmed by Guinness World Records officials who will also award a certificate for the title/category and will post the feat on its official website.

This is not the first time that UST attempted and successfully set a Guinness World Record. In March 9, 2011 (Ash Wednesday), UST also set a record for the world’s largest human cross with 13,266 participants who formed the human cross inside the UST campus in Sampaloc, Manila.

Congratulations, Thomasians!
