One thing I love about traveling is the opportunity to take lots of new photos. It’s one thing to take awesome photographs of cool places to remember them by. It’s another thing to take photos of a gorgeous space and turn them into another entirely.
That’s what photographer Rvee Santiago did when he visited Mariveles in Bataan. He is known for doing creative photo shoots that result in surreal and dreamlike photos.
In this recent photo shoot, he turned a beach in Mariveles into the fictional island of Atlantis!

When asked about this particular shoot, Rvee shares that it all started with a scene from the filmย Pirates of the Carribean: On Stranger Tides. It was a scene involving mermaids that caught his attention. He said that it was the magic of their reinvention of the mermaid character that made him fall in love with the scene.

So, he decided to do a photo shoot inspired by it.
He shares a little bit of behind-the-scenes secrets with WhenInManila.com.
“Finding a location is always a major problem for me especially if you have minimal budget for the shoot. So to cut it short, the theme and the location should be a match for me to achieve that feel of turning one place into another,” he says. “We googled some tutorials on how we can produce a minimal costume like DIY stuff for the makeup and seashells crown, earpiece and makeup.”
