Letโs be honest. When you hear the word milk tea, a lot of familiar brands already come to mind, along with the familiar taste.ย ย But a group of entrepreneurs decided to take a different route and elevate milk tea to another level; a tipsier level.
Tipsy Tea is the first milk tea place in the Metro that makes cocktails with a tea base. The owners, Ryan Laurente, Matet Laurente, Jeremiah Joaquin, and Lens Wong, wanted to attract milk tea lovers who are looking for something different.
Itโs booze-y milk tea but not enough to knock you down — only pure boba goodness with a pleasant buzz.
If you think milk tea and alcohol is a weird combination, Tipsy Tea will prove you wrong. People who got a chance to taste the drink on their test run at Mercato Centraleโs Boba Fest 2019 kept lining up for more.

Once theyโve finally opened their first branch in Maginhawa, the store was met with long lines and good reviews.ย ย Experienced bartenders conceptualized the menu so you can be sure youโre in for a treat. The drinks were patterned from existing cocktail recipes with tea as the base.ย There are a variety of drinks to choose from.
Their flagship drink is the Tipsy Tea which is made with Kahlua coffee liqueur, Bailey’s Irish cream, and Frangelico hazelnut liqueur. Itโs perfect for drinkers and non-drinkers alike. You wouldnโt feel like your drinking alcohol, itโs just milk tea with a twist.
(Plus, check out that packaging! Milk tea you can carry around hanging on your neck? YES, PLEASE!)
GraviTEA
For more experienced drinkers, they should try the AlmighTEA (vodka and honey) or the GraviTEA (rum and hazelnut). The sweetness of the milk tea plays with the buzz of alcohol making it an addictive drink.
You wouldnโt even notice that youโve downed the drink in a matter of minutes. Do make sure to bring your ID because theyโre adamant about checking youโre of legal age.
Healtea
For non-alcoholic lovers (or minors), they also offer the Healtea series. Itโs freshly-pressed fruit juice infused with tea. The recipes are all original to Tipsy Tea.
Theyโre also offering a fun pink drink with no name yet. Itโs sweet and creamy infused with a bit of spirit.
A new product dubbed as “Project X”
Tipsy Tea is willing to award the customer who suggests the best name for the unnamed drink. An additional prize will be given to the customer who guesses what alcohol they used for the drink (I promise, you wonโt even be able to tell thereโs alcohol in it).ย
And don’t worry about drinking alcohol withoutย pulutan because they also serve delicious finger food.
This is just the beginning for Tipsy Tea. They hope to open new branches soon. For now, make sure to drop by their Maginhawa branch (and donโt forget to check out their restroom before you leave the place! Youโll be in for a surprise).
