Last month, President Rodrigo Duterte made news for the humble menu in his inauguration to become the next president of the Republic of the Philippines. The simplicity of the menu, which servedย pan de sal with kesong puti, monggoย soup with smoked fish and alugbati, lumpia ubod, pritong saging, and a durianย tartlet, cemented his reputation as a man who doesn’t like to fuss around.
For his first State of the Nation Address on Monday, President Duterte is bringing back the pared-back menu from his inauguration. The pan de sal with kesong puti and lumpia ubod, smoked fish and alugbati will be served again, this time with new items like the native chips with salted duck egg dressing, empanaditas,ย sotong goreng or deep-fried calamaris tossed in chili and bell pepper, crispy triangles of flaked chicken adobo and mushrooms, penne with taba ng talangkaย sauce, balutย pรขtรฉ in profiteroles, and chicken skin crackling.

According to the menu, the inauguration will serve a meryenda buffet for 800 people at the Batasang Pambansa.
