LOOK: This Basketball-Themed Café Will Make You Feel Nostalgic

Back in the day, I would watch PBA games like it was the thing to do. I was a ride-or-die fan for Purefoods and secretly admired Alvin Patrimonio.

Alvin Patrimonio is one of the PBA’s 25 Greatest Players. He received 4 MVP awards and won five championships, mostly in the All-Filipino Conference championships. Furthermore, he was also part of the 1998 Philippine Centennial Team. (Source:Wikipedia)

Instantly, my admiration to the sport led me to write the history and use it as my book report back in High School.

The sport was invented by Canadian Physical Education Instructor, James Naismith in 1891, Springfield, Massachusetts. A sports resource website claims that the first public basketball game was played there on March 11, 1891.

Fortunately, we were able to visit this sports-themed cafe located on the 2nd floor of Metrowalk in Ortigas.

It felt like a trip down memory lane. The interiors and mementos displayed at the cafe brought back a lot of memories.PBA Cafe

As demonstrated, this is the sentimental area of the cafe. Here you will reminisce on some remarkable photos.

Interestingly, when you enter the PBA Cafe, you will notice a small basketball court on your left. According to the Operations Manager, Filipinos love basketball, so the court was made to make the ballers feel welcome and alive!

Moreover, PBA Cafe could accommodate up to 450 pax. When we visited the place, there was a small event which I believed was recognition day for call center agents. Ultimately, the cafe has a fast Wi-Fi connection! You can work, snap, and share away!

Considerably, the basketball-themed cafe has three banquet rooms, all named after PBA’s basketball seasons: (1) All-Filipino Cup – can accommodate up to 25 pax  (2) Governor’s Cup – can accommodate up to 40 and (3) Commissioner’s Cup – can accommodate up to 25.

Its contemporary design is perfect for lunch or dinner meetings. There are monitors as well so you can comfortably watch your favorite series after your meeting.

This quaint, classroom type function room is perfect for learning workshops. Now, I know where to have our next writing and blogging workshop, soon!

Meanwhile, if you are looking for unique events place for special occasions, PBA Cafe is one of the great options in Ortigas. It’s a great place to unwind, catch up with friends, to name a few!

These coined operated basketball machines are highly appropriate for kids and kid-at-heart.

After checking out the place, a variety of dishes were served to us. Of course, we devoured and gnawed their lip-smacking buffalo wings, chicken salted egg, pizza, and more!

This is PBA Cafe’s “Boybits” salad (P295). It’s made of crunchy catfish floss, fried catfish meat, fried hibe, coriander, peanut, and mangoes.

And of course, the ultimate beer partner, PIZZA!! This is PBA Cafe’s All Star Pizza wherein you can put 4 toppings of your choice: Mexican, Adobo, Margherita, and all-meat.

Another pulutan or good as viand that you can order at PBA Cafe.

*deep sigh* I loved the place. I reminisced on days I would yell scandalously to support my favorite team and of course, my ultimate crush. 🙂 Hahaha. Oh well, it’s nice to swing by these places once in a while, isn’t it?

Oh by the way, since they open at 12 Noon (and closes at 2 AM), PBA Cafe is a great alternative working space, as well. They have a fast Wi-Fi connection and affordable meals, specially made for savvy workers like YOU!

Genuinely, PBA Cafe is not your ordinary cafe, it’s a gem of a restaurant and events place with splendid interiors, relatively tasteful dishes, and great customer service, all rolled into one.

So, have you been here? Also, who was your all-time favorite PBA player? Let’s exchange thoughts by leaving a comment below!
