Four talented Filipina visual artists, Kim Borja, Naburok, Jem Magbanua, and Thea Quiachon, will showcase their compelling works at Art Fair Tokyo 2025, presented by Galerie Stephanie. From March 7 to 9, at the Tokyo International Forum, these artists will bring contemporary Filipino art’s vibrant and diverse expressions to an international audience. As the sole Philippine gallery represented, Galerie Stephanie, at Booth L015, provides a crucial platform for these women to share their unique perspectives and artistic visions with the Japanese market and global art enthusiasts.
About the artists:
Kim Borja (b. 1999) Drawing viewers with her inverted and illuminescent pallet, the emerging artistย infuses elements from childrenโs stories, with wide-eyed characters expressing melancholy andย grief. A BFA Advertising graduate and a former multimedia designer, Borjaโs works have beenย part of various exhibitions and art festivals across the country.
Jem Magbanua (b. 1992) received her BA (Hons) in Fine Arts from the LASALLE College of Arts, Singapore (in partnership with Goldsmithsโ College, University of London). Her practice is grounded firmly in drawing and explores how places and people shape each otherโs conditions by merging points between movement and stagnation; naturalness and artificiality; and comfort and displacement.

Naburok (b. 2000) is both the artist’s name and character in a series of interconnected digital and traditional illustrations forming an enormous artwork. Naburok inhabits a world influenced by her experiences, preferences, imagination, and harmonious blend of geometric shapes, and spontaneity, resulting in a delightful imperfection. Throughout the illustrations, the artistโs passion for patterns and architectural structures is evident.
Thea Quiachon (b. 1996) is a Philippine-based artist whose works focus on stories about peopleโs intricate connections with one another. Through her figurative art, she creates seemingly indistinct illustrations that hold meaning to her yet are open for the interpretation of the observer.
