Lilo & Stitchย will be back, and it will be a live-action remake!
Disney announced the news earlier this week at D23, an annual event featuring exhibits, panels, and presentations.
The studio also shared a sneak peek of Stitch, who will be brought to life by CGI, on social media:

The caption reads, “Experiment 626 has entered the chat! The live-actionย #LiloAndStitchย is coming only to theaters in Summer 2025!”
Maia Kealoha will star as Lilo Pelekai, while Sydney Agudong will play her sister Nani. Chris Sanders, who directed the original film, will return to voice Stitch. The rest of the cast includes Zach Galifianakis as Dr. Jumba Jookiba, Billy Magnussen as Agent Pleakley, and Courtney B. Vance as a social worker in charge of Lilo.
Original voice cast members will return in different roles, such as Tia Carrere (who voiced Nani)ย as Mrs. Kekoa, Amy Hill (who voiced Mrs. Hasagawa) as Tลซtลซ, and Jason Scott Lee (who voiced David) as a luau manager.
The remake is said to follow the original movie.
Lilo & Stitch
The animated film follows Lilo, a young and parentless girl who adopts a “dog” from the local pound, completely unaware that it’s supposedly a dangerous scientific experiment that’s taken refuge on Earth. The “dog” is Stitch, and he’s now hiding from its creator and those who see it as a menace.
Lilo & Stitch was released in 2002 and was a critical and box-office success. Its critics’ consensus on Rotten Tomatoes reads, “Edgier than traditional Disney fare, Lilo and Stitch explores issues of family while providing a fun and charming story.”
The film received a nomination forย Best Animated Featureย at theย 75th Academy Awards.
Lilo & Stitchย received spinoffs, including the films Stitch! The Movie, Lilo & Stitch 2: Stitch Has a Glitch, and Leroy & Stitch; the TV shows Lilo & Stitch: The Series, Stitch!, and Stitch & Ai; and comics, children’s books, video games, and theme park attractions.
