For many Filipinos who have traveled around Pasay City via EDSA, the iconic Kabayan Hotel can be considered an institution in Metro Manila especially after being around for more than two decades. As a probinsyana myself, Kabayan Hotel was always one of the most prominent landmarks that I’d remember whenever we’d be in Pasay City.
For many Filipino travelers and families with OFWs, Kabayan Hotel was also a huge part of their returns (or visits!) to Manila because, for the longest time, it was one of the affordable yet comfortable hotels that were nearest to the airport and most accessible to public transportation.
A lot of newer hotels may have popped up around the area over the past few years, but as Kabayan Hotel celebrates its 22nd year in service, they’re also making a huge comeback as the go-to hotel for every Filipino.
This January 2023, Kabayan Hotel officially opened the doors to its newest building. We got to check out the fresh and updated look of this legendary hotel.

This new building is pretty hard to miss, especially with its accessible location along EDSA. But aside from that, the new Kabayan Hotel features eye-catching exteriors and a grand revolving door for its entrance. It’s hard not to do a double-take at the stylish design of this new building.
Upon stepping through the gorgeous revolving doors, the many art pieces around the lobby will surely grab your attention. Even with just a glance, you’ll already notice how indigenous materials have the spotlight at Kabayan Hotel.
The spacious lobby is also the perfect waiting area for everyone checking in or out. It’s designed so elegantly and is definitely up to par with five-star hotels.
Kabayan Hotel offers a variety of rooms for your every need:
First, they’ve got the single room (Pad Premium) which is the more affordable option that’s specially made for solo occupants. This room has a single bed, a TV, a private toilet and shower room, and enough space for your personal items.
With its modern design and comfortable space, the Pad Premium is great for solo travelers and even workers who have business in the area. It’s also perfect for those who don’t want to travel all the way home late at night after a fun concert at the SMX Convention Center!
The Superior Room is a great room for couples with its two single beds and more than enough space to move around. In case you both don’t want to travel on the day of your flight, or you’re arriving in Manila in the wee hours of the night, Kabayan Hotel’s Superior Room is a great choice.
If you’re traveling with family, you can stay in the massive Mabuhay Suite. This super spacious suite features 2 queen beds and can accommodate up to 4 people. It also includes a private bathroom, a smart TV, and lots of storage space for all your stuff.
Got an even bigger group with you? You can request two connecting Mabuhay Suites that can accommodate up to 8 people in total!
While touring around Kabayan Hotel’s new building, what stood out to us the most was the stylish and ingenious ways that local materials were incorporated into the hotel’s interior design.
The walls and hallways feature rattan solihiya patterns that add a traditional Filipino touch to its otherwise modern interiors. The furniture pieces inside the rooms are also sourced from Palawan, and even the elevators feature capiz shells and pieces of barong fabric.

Going around the new building of Kabayan Hotel, it was such a delight to see how—even after 22 years—they continue to stay true to their mission of providing every visitor with an affordable place to stay without compromising world-class service and the Filipino brand of excellent hospitality.
