What have you been doing with your time during the enhanced community quarantine so far? Jeiven Perez is a 41-year-old architect, car builder, and part-time painter who has put his creative juices to work on none other than… empty Yakult bottles! It all started with this painting that he made during the start of the ECQ:
After that, he couldn’t stop thinking of new things to work on. “I guess staying home more than anything allowed us to do the things we never had time for,” he muses.
Jeiven had been collecting Yakult bottles with the goal of making something out of them someday. When his wife was bored the other day, they decided to paint some bottles with his wife creating a panda and him creating two frontliners.
Jeiven has also created some geeky art out of Yakult bottles since then. “Being 41, nostalgia has been a huge part of everything I’ve been doing recently,” he explains. “So I ditched the canvas and turned three bottles into Star Wars characters.”
Jeiven shares that his love for Star Wars was heavily influenced by his mom, who is a huge fan and pretty much bought all of the toys and watched all of the movies. He has since been a huge fan himself, particularly of Han Solo and Boba Fett.
Over the course of three days, Jeiven was able to paint six more with cartoons of his younger days as his subject. He shares that he plans on doing more if time permits.
