Lana Condor and Anthony De La Torre recently tied the knot! The celebrity couple held an intimate wedding at the Serra Franciscan Retreat Center in Malibu, California, at the end of October.
In an interview with Vogue, the newlyweds shared the sentimental reason behind their venue choice, which holds a special meaning for Lana.
The “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” actress revealed that she and her mother attended a women’s spiritual retreat at the venue during her high school years.
“My mother had wanted to spend some special one-on-one time together, and had heard about Serra Retreat and the amazing work they do there,” she told Vogue.
Lana noted that her mother recently passed away, leaving their family devastated. However, she said her mother wouldn’t have wanted her and Anthony not to celebrate their love.
“We really wanted to get married at the Serra Retreat because being there was such a core memory that I had with my mom, and I felt like we would be able to feel her presence on our wedding night,” she continued.
Meanwhile, Anthony also had a “profound experience” when he visited the venue years ago. According to Lana, Anthony found solace and answers at the chapel at Serra Retreat during a “very difficult time.”
“He had a very personal revelation while being in the chapel, and it truly changed the course of his life. Needless to say, the Serra Retreat means a great deal to our family, and we were thrilled we got to marry at the center,” she added.
Lana and Anthony started dating in 2015 after they crossed paths at an Emmys party. They got engaged in December 2021.
