โ€œOnce a Kulasa, Always a Kulasaโ€ is what Scholasticans always say.ย  In the thriving city of Marikina is where one of the campuses of St. Scholastica stands for the past 57 years. Many may not be familiar with this branch of St. Scho, but it is here where many lives of hardworking and intelligent women began. Artists such as Agot Isidro, Bing Loyzaga, Amy Perez and Rhea Santos graced the halls. The school motto, Ora et Labora or Pray and Work, is instilled in everybody beginning at a young age. And years after many young ladies graduate, it is this motto that brings them back to their alma mater to pay it forward.

St. Scholasticaโ€™s Academy of Marikina Batch 1995 is doing just that with a fun event that not only brings the alumnae together, but the community as well. It is holding a Zumba party entitled, KulaZayaw: a Retro Zumba Event to be held on September 22, 2018, Saturday at the Sister Imburg Covered Court in St. Scholastica’s Academy of Marikina. The alumnae will have a Zumbathon- two hours of dancing and exercise along with 70โ€™s 80โ€™s and 90โ€™s music. The ZINS for the day are Ron Archie, Christian G. and Andy. They will make sure the Kulasa alumnae and their followers burn those calories away while reminiscing about their teenage years through the music. Aside from the dancing, booths from friends are also available to sell goodies to foodies and add flair to the festivity. Kulazayaw will end with a worthy project in support of the World Clean Up Day, as we practice responsible zero-waste event hosting.

This event is the formal launch of more fundraising activities until the Batchโ€™s 25th homecoming in February 2020. Kulazayaw is a kick-off event to gather our batchmates, teachers, and friends and engage them in planning for a grand Homecoming 2020. Proceeds to this event will go to the homecoming preparations and to our beloved Alma Mater.

Inviting all Zumba fanatics to join and get a chance to win in the raffle. Great prizes also await the best retro costume, the most energetic dancer and the youngest to the eldest Zumba dancer. Registration starts at 4:00pm and program starts at 5:00pm. Letโ€™s Kulazayaw na!
